My beloved Mike is gone.

Um.

More than that is hard to say just now. I think it will be a bit before I am coherent.

There is a post on Making Light.

Please pass the word to the people who loved him, liked his work, and so on. There will certainly be some sort of memorial service, but it won't be for at least a couple of weeks. Late October is the best I can give right now. More when I have it.

Hug your dear ones.

Hugs for you, dear one. My mind is a grey void in trying to contemplate this sadness. There are no words, no images, nothing that can give meaning to it.

Wait, one thing does occur to me: When Gordy left us, I imagined a heavan as a great SF con bar where all his friends were waiting to lift a glass. I imagine Gordy is welcoming Mike there right about now.

I'm so sorry for your loss. His writing touched me at a number of unexpected times.

It seems that many mourn with you.

Much, much sympathy. I'm so sorry.

I'm so sorry.

He is irreplaceable. I wish I had hung out with him more when I had the chance, but I felt unworthy. I'm an idiot.

I'm so sorry, Elise. And I'll miss his writing so much.

Oh god, oh god. I'm late on the rolls, but a tragedy of this magnitude can't go unremarked-upon. I'm so sorry.

Oh, hell. I'm so sorry.

You have all of my condolences and care.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss.

*hugs* I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry. I had tremendous respect for him on so many levels.

Oh, my dear. I am so sorry for your loss, and for all of ours. He was a source of light and magic and words of ensorcellment.

Sincere condolences...

Laura Jean & David Schroth

I'm so sorry for your loss. The world is poorer.

I am very sorry for your loss.

I am terribly, terribly sorry.

Elise, I'm so sorry to hear this. Many hugs.

I am so very, very sorry. It hurts me too, though I only knew him through his books and on the Internet. He was strong enough to touch me from that far away, and now I'm crying with you.

Elise, left you an email. Obviously, I'm at a substantial distance now (and so, so sorry I wasn't down the street as usual when this happened: it makes my heart hurt not to have been there for you), but if there is anything at all I can do, please tell me. Anything: I can figure out how to do whatever it is.

Love you so, so much. Sending the tightest psychic hug I can muster.

Oh, I'm so sorry. His "Winter Solstice Camelot Station" is the first poem I read consciously as an sf poem. I owe him a lot for that.

my heart goes out to you and all those who love him. Take care in the coming days. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh, Elise, my heart bleeds. He was such a fine mind, such a mordant wit, a gentleman and a scholar and there are always too few of those around.
