putting out a call to my posse: need a copy of War Toys ASAP!
Does anybody have a copy of a very old poem of mine called War Toys?

I have been through all the stash places in the house with increasing desperation. I've found two dozen other things I had forgotten about (and that I should polish and submit, yes, Ellen and Jane, I hear you) but not that one... and I absolutely have to give it to someone today or tomorrow.

If I have to, I can recreate it from memory, but I'd rather not risk those errors, as it's a long piece. (Yeah, I know I do it from memory a lot, but... still.)

Help?

Still cannot find poem. Have commenced reconstructing from memory, but am going to take a break and search more.

Argh.

still argh, but also amusement. and manuscripts.
I am going to have to make a list of everything I have found in this search, because I have at least a dozen things to send out pretty quick, and a lot more to rewrite and tweak.

And speaking of sending things out, after I made that comment earlier today about hearing Jane and Ellen, I got this in my e-mail:

It wouldn't let me and after seven tries I gave up.

See, I don't have to say anything to you anymore. You are now officially channeling me so I can be silent. I can go now. My work here is done.

No running after me, crying, "Jane, come back, Jane." On horse, hat on, riding into the sunset etc.

However, I still haven't found that darned poem, so I am going to try to reconstruct the rest of it from memory.

(I found all sorts of other things, though, like the rules for rubberband war in the MPR phone room... and a certain amount of U.S.S. Malcolm correspondence.

Glass Bead Games anthology: general sales

Glass Bead Games is an anthology of stories, poetry, and essays inspired by shiny things I've made. It's from Inner Magpie Press, which means me; this has been an adventure in self-publishing. (Whee!) There are some lovely photos hand-tipped-in, and a nifty cover photo by David Dyer-Bennet; Jana Pullman made the book pretty, Sheila Perry took more photos and kept the project on-track, and Debbie Notkin coordinated all the proofreading, and I am tremendously grateful to all of them.

Important note on timing and shipping: Please be advised that you'll get your books around late July; timing's a little interesting around here for the next few weeks, so I'm only saying what I'm sure of. Also, for those of you who have asked, yes, I will be coming to Worldcon in Denver in August, and will bring some books with me if I have any left by then. (I probably will, so I'll very likely bring a dozen or so.) Please be advised that if you buy one in advance and ask me to bring it along to Worldcon for you, there will still be a shipping charge. Whether we mail them or I carry them to Worldcon for you, it'll be the same charge either way, because I am a delicate Lioness these days and do not schlep as much as I used to as easily as I used to. ArtLog: oops. But really, they JUMPED on me!
So I went to take some photos of the pendants that aren't pictured in the Current Shinies post... and I got to the workshop and got distracted. Which is why there will soon be four new pairs of earrings about oceans, and six new pairs in a series about Evil Candy.

I couldn't help it. There they were, and they were layin' for me!

(I like my job. Yes, I do. But I am sorry that I am delaying pictures.)
