    Time Event
    11:28a
OK, here's the deal. (Health and work update)
So, as a bunch of you know, I've been having shoulder problems since last fall, and have been in physical therapy for shoulder impingements for a couple of months.

Things aren't improving much, if any. And it's looking like my work movements are perhaps making it worse. I might have the choice between trading off shoulder irritation and neck strain, which is not my favorite choice in the world.

Yesterday I took to the tub and had a Grumpy Day, after getting this news and discussing it with my physical therapist. Sometimes a person needs a Grumpy Day, after which they can get constructive again.

OK, so here's what I know: I am not going to stop working. I am going to build in more breaks, be assiduous about doing my PT (which we have scaled back some, as some of the pieces were perhaps too ambitious just now, which means they were irritating things not yet ready for them), and learn to work at different postures, while still being careful not to build in new bad habits. I'm also going to have to get back to a regular schedule of massage, because that's what'll let me deal with the posture changes without the neck strain getting me. (It also helps the shoulder, and the arthritis and the fibro and everything else, so that's cool too.) I'm going to have to pay attention to mood a lot, since the physical therapy and this particular injury have a kind of pain associated with them that I find hardest to deal with. (I can do sharp pain, and I can do certain kinds of constant pain, but this is a dull-but-very-strong pain, a sort of blunt pain if that makes any sense, and it makes me want to throw up. Which bugs me a lot for other reasons. Oh, speaking of which, I did see my Crohn's doc day before yesterday, and that went well, and we're working on the morning nausea thing, but all in all, I'm pretty fortunate there and the Crohn's disease remains under control at this point.) And I'm going to need to take people up on offers of carrying stuff at conventions, and doing set-up with me. (Huge huge thanks to my Potlatch crew! You guys rock like mighty rocking things.)

Anyhow, this is me, on the day after the Grumpy Day, being constructive.

The next thing I need to do, ArtLog-wise anyhow, is to check in with Katie, and then post about the BotMo leftovers sale, take photos of the shinies and upload them, and then pick the date for the post-Potlatch sale and post about it. So I'd better get to work. Wish me luck, yah? More importantly, wish me fortitude, please? Thanks.
