ArtLog: Beads of the Month for November roll call
The Beads of the Month theme for November is "Quartz and Its Imitators." I'll be composing packages from a grand mix of quartz crystals, amethysts, rose quartz, smoky quartz, opalite glass (which was sold for a while as "opalized quartz"), "cherry quartz" glass, "pineapple quartz" glass, blue chalcedony, agate, rutilated quartz, tourmalinated quartz, tiger's eye, aventurine, carnelian, chrysoprase, jasper... well, you get the idea. Not every package will have every kind in it, but those are the sources from which I will draw.

Upcoming themes for Beads of the Month:
December: -escenses and -oyancies (an exploration of optical phenomena like chatoyancy, which is the cat's-eye thing that tiger eye does, labradorescence, fluorescence, adularescence and more. Expect labradorite, tiger eye, moonstone, and other goodies in this package.)
    January: Elise's Choice

Also, I will be posting something about the Beads of the Month special supplement: beads to knit, crochet, embroider, or ornament hair with, and giving a deadline for it. (I have to double-check something about Green Girl beads first, or I'd give you the date right now.) Still working on this; sorry for delay.)

To the people who were wondering if they could put Beads of the Month on their various holiday/birthday wish lists, the answer is yes. I'll post more about that, too.

    food bliss
I just heated up some of the leftover lamb stew from last night, the one with rutabagas and parsnips and carrots, with a little added liquid, namely a bit of the leftover mead from last night. Oh, my goodness. Pair it with the roasted garlic loaf of bread, and the Rofumo cheese with its wonderful smokiness, and this is amazing.

I'll be over here for a while, making little squeaking noises of delight. After dinner I'll go up and take photographs of the new work, which I am very pleased with.

    Life is good.

ArtLog: new work (with pictures; two pairs of earrings)
So I got a chance to bend a little metal tonight. The earrings in green are because I was pondering what a slightly more blue-green Swarovski crystal would do next to a more grass-green glass bead. The earrings with the multi-hued-but-mostly-blue trio of crystal beads are because I was thinking of Glasgow artists, particularly some of the women there during a certain time period.

Haven't figured out prices for these yet, but the green ones will be not so much, and the crystal trio ones will be considerably more so, but that's about time and intricacy and a certain kind of happy challenge.

    More soon.
