ArtLog: show prep, and some finishing work Entered the new necklaces in the Folktale Series. Checked all the sterling silver and gold filled pieces already tagged, and packed them. Hung all the ready-to-be-tagged new sterling and gf pieces on the pegs, and will tag them tomorrow. Er, today. After sleep, though.
At that point, I couldn't stand doing inventory any longer, so I rushed to the workbench, finished a pair of earrings for that berry-colored hedgehog, and finished the clasps upon it. Also added five more sections to a long chain-and-bead thingum I started last, oh... January? Can't be that long, can it? And made two more pair of "Jewel in the Lotus" earrings, which please me a great deal. (These are done in a color called "black diamond" with a treatment called AB, for "Aurora Borealis", and they always remind me of labradorite. The little jewels are Swarovski crystal. I made one pair low shine, and one pair high shine, simply by choosing which sides of the beads to display, as some have AB on one side and not the other. It's interesting to compose earrings very carefully but very swiftly -- it kind of reminds me of those stories about people learning to draw circles very fast, or something.)
Soon, sleep. And then I can wake up and work some more. If I sound impatient, I am, sort of. Well, not really, I guess; I can do the things of the night and let them carry me through to morning when I can work again... but my gladness will be waiting for me there.
I love my (self-appointed) job. And I do hope this upcoming show is a good one, because it would be ever so handy. | | 11:31a |
ArtLog: show prep Priced and tagged the rest of the named sterling silver pieces. Still have hedgehogs and sculptural pieces to inventory.
Looked longingly at flower-shaped beads, the ones that are trumpet blossoms, like the ones I used in "Sweet Poison". Probably will commit earrings later. Also should do some pendants of the beads from those Hawai'ian beadmakers I met.... | | 2:04p |

ArtLog: because work must go on Entered all the sterling & similar necklaces into the inventory, including the new ones, and packed them all. (Will probably redo packing later, but this is fine for now.)
Finished a necklace called "Overheard on an Upscale Saltmarsh," which is lengths of sterling silver chain with beads every five links or so. It turned out quite nice, which was a bit surprising; I had been experimenting with bead caps, and was grumbling a lot when they proved hard to work with. (Not thick enough. Next time, if there is a next time, get better ones, or at least thicker ones.)
I am going up to make some art. Inventory can wait a little bit. It's a hard day, and I need to make some beauty. This is my usual response to trouble, so I'm going for it. | | 3:01p |
A Living Memorial I am going to make a list of some of Wellstone's projects and positions, and then I am going to start looking for ways to continue them.
At the very least, I want a list of questions I can ask my candidates. Whoever they turn out to be.
It's time to get organized. I think working for what Wellstone lived for is the best way I can mourn his death. | | 3:14p |

One more thing about who Wellstone... was. It's hard to say "was" instead of "is".
Anyhow, the following quote about him is from the Strib (Minneapolis Star Tribune) today:
"He became such a thorn in the side of Republicans that President Bush personally recruited Coleman in an attempt to defeat Wellstone." | | 5:51p |
Might he be Wellstone's successor? OK, even in the murk of shocked sadness, some comments I just read actually are giving me some hope. Now, I dunno if he'd take the job, but I could really really really get behind having Alan Page as a senator. Here's his curriculum vitae. Not that Mondale would be a bad choice either, but... Page. Man, yeah, that'd work. He'd do the job. | | 7:33p |
