Greetings from snailsville, where the snails are singing "inch by inch" again today.

SALE IS DONE, and all prices revert to normal. THANK YOU!

To order, send email to gimme@lioness.net. (That's the only way to order -- though if you don't hear back, forward a copy of your original order to me at LionessElise@gmail.com, OK?) You'll get a confirmation back from me, and after you tell me where we'll be shipping, you'll get an invoice with payment options. We accept personal checks, money orders, PayPal, cash in person, Canadian cash in Montreal, NZ cash at AuContraire, Aussie cash at Aussiecon4, and on a few occasions we have by prior arrangement accepted other things including treasure troves of beads, bartered sewing from top-notch craftspeople, and large packages of food from Singapore.

OK, then, here are your special progressive clearance sale shinies, direct from the Lioness:

named fancy pins, combs and hair sticks: ALL GONE!

... "The Agreement" ornamental comb: glass, printed paper key on wood, color-treated cultured freshwater pearls, sterling silver, copper. $65 SOLD for 10% off at $58.50.

... "Probability" hairstick: base metal face, metallized plastic dice, sterling silver and GF wire, wood. $50 $22 SOLD

... "The Way Miss Lily Works" hairstick: clockwork photoprint on wood, brass lily stamping, GF wire, wood. $41 $19 SOLD

named necklaces: ALL GONE, AND ALTHOUGH "THE WATERS OF TWILIGHT" IS, AS WE KNOW, ENDLESS, ALL THAT I CAN SELL ON CLEARANCE HAS NOW BEEN SOLD. WHEE!

... "Beginning Rose Magic" necklace: glass, opalite glass, metal and sterling silver. No clasp. About 25 inches long. $125 SOLD at 40% off for $75

... "Double Exposure: Forest/Boardwalk" necklace: labradorite, jasper, ocean jasper, lampwork and other glass, green garnet, other stone, GF wire. A bit over 27 inches long. $230 SOLD at 20% off for $184 if I understand aright

... "Intermediate Rose Magic" necklace: glass and sterling silver. About 96 inches long. $350 $150 SOLD

... "It Was Ours First" necklace: fossil coral, including Petosky stone; glass, ocean jasper, various other stones including lepidolite, sterling silver. About 19 inches long. $100 $45 SOLD

... "A Little Wiser" necklace: color-treated shell, faux pearls, glass, fiberoptic beads, opalite glass, sterling silver, Swarovski crystal. $425 $201 $175 SOLD

... "My Coney Island" necklace: plastic (and these beads will shed their coating, so this necklace will generate detritus and will change -- which is fitting in my opinion for the subject material), glass, lampwork, fake pearls, stone, unknown tiny bead which is possibly dyed horn, GF wire. About 59 inches long. $325 SOLD at 50% off for $162.50

... "Old Settlers" necklace: fossil coral, glass, ocean jasper, flower jasper, lepidolite, sterling silver. About 19 1/2 inches long. $105 SOLD at 40% off for $63

... "Sidhe Passport" necklace: ocean jasper and other stone, sterling silver. About 23 inches long. $205 $98 SOLD

... "Singing the High Blue" necklace: ocean jasper, chalcedony, agate, unknown stone (maybe rainbow amazonite?), sterling silver. About 20 inches long. $135 $52 SOLD

... "Teasing the Goblin Again" necklace: green glass beads and GF wire & clasp, plus attitude. A lot of attitude. Adjustable between a smidgen over 16 inches long and 19 3/4 inches long. $350 SOLD at 50% off for $175

"The Waters of Twilight Are Endless" necklace, or bracelet, or earrings, or...something: This is a thing I made and keep adding to, and keep taking lengths off to sell to people, so it's a perpetual project. Bracelet, necklace, whatever you like, just tell me the length. I should take a new photo; it looked like this the other week, but I've added a lot of larger beads since then. It looks more like this now. It's $4 per inch, and clasps are $6. $1.50 per inch, up to 60 inches, plus $4 for a clasp, for now -- and I may only sell one or two pieces at that price. We shall see. In any case, if you're tempted, now's the time. Whee! ONE SOLD. TWO SOLD. THREE SOLD, and now it's back to full price while I add more beads into it at random intervals to regenerate it. (It's like sourdough -- always gotta keep some for starter for the next batch, you know?)

bracelets: ALL GONE!

... "The Twinkletoad Has Strange Powers" bracelet: rubber, memory wire, glass, plastic, and pewter Green Girl toad bead. $50 SOLD at 50% off for $25

pendants: ONE LEFT

... Chained Flask No. 1: glass flask with tiny cork, sterling silver chain, faceted resin-encased color-treated cultured freshwater pearl, brass clock gear, tiny crescent wrench charm, sterling silver wire. The chain is connected to the pendant and the cork, meaning the cork cannot be taken off the pendant, but the flask can be uncorked and removed for filling. Please handle the cork by the cork itself rather than pulling on the tiny brass eyehook, which will come loose eventually if you do that sort of thing. $78 SOLD at 50% off for $39

... "Counterpoise" pendant: color-treated cultured freshwater pearl, quartz, quartz with inclusion, sterling silver. $67 $31 SOLD

... "Dinah and the Key" pendant: base metal charms, stone trapezoid, GF wire. $30 $9 SOLD

"Dinosaur Fangirl" pendant: amber (with inclusion! I let the amber spin a little so you could try to get a good angle on whatever's inside there. Is that a wing I see, or just overlapping amber flows? I am completely puzzled by whatever's inside here -- if indeed there is anything there at all. But just when I am sure it was my imagination, I move the loupe and see what looks like a lacy wing.... Or maybe it's a seed pod. I don't know....), dino charm, propeller beanie (and the propeller spins!), sterling silver wire, GF wire. $115 $49 $40 $35

... "Faster Than You Know" pendant: zinc alloy fox charm, boulder opal doughnut-shaped stone, sterling silver. (The fox charm swings back and forth, the boulder opal doughnut can be rotated within the silver wire housing, and the pendant is reversible. The veins of opal are very subtle, though; they do not flash, though they do glow a bit in the right light.) $85 $39 $29 SOLD

... "The Fire Goes Up, the Fire Goes Down" pendant: stone, color-treated cultured freshwater pearl, sterling silver. I love the colors here, and the way the stone has colored patches that look like the fire-pearl is being reflected. $85 $39 $28 SOLD

... "Full Fathom Five" pendant: this is a BIG piece, and there are stories in it, I suspect. Zinc alloy mermaid, wood and photoprint oxygen cylinder gauge finding, glass, and sterling silver. $95 SOLD for 40% off at $57

... "The Hatter Dreams" pendant: brass charm, labradorite with striations (better in person than in these photos), GF wire. $45 $12 SOLD

... "I Know What You're Looking For" pendant: zinc alloy boat and mermaid charms, dyed shell, sterling silver. $50 $21 SOLD

... "In This Life or Another" pendant: an ancient old coin (Roman?), a piece of ancient Roman glass, sterling silver. $82 SOLD at 20% off for $65.60, if I understand aright

... "Mechanical Signs and Wonders" pendant: stone (the golden-brown barrel bead is ocean jasper and the other two are mysterious to me), color-treated cultured freshwater pearls, sterling silver. $70 SOLD at 50% off for $35

... "Meteorite Love" pendant: huge bead made from a piece of meteorite NWA869, and sterling silver wire. $125 SOLD at 50% off for $62.50

... "Oh, Completely Pants. And You?" pendant: silver-plated pants charm, cultured freshwater pearls, GF wire. $68 $29 $15 SOLD

... "Other Rivers Entirely" pendant: a great big huge honking piece of boulder opal (matrix with veins of opal running through it) in a complicated sterling silver wirework frame. I took a lot of photos of this, trying to show you what it does. The effect is more subtle indoors; these were taken outdoors in natural light, though not very bright light. There isn't much gemmy "flash" but everything in those photos is there, in the right light. I love this big stone, and could look at it for hours. In fact, I have. $100 $35 SOLD

... "A Pirate Story" pendant: serpentine, zinc alloy ship, sterling silver. $56 SOLD at 50% off for $28

... "Singing My Sisters Home" pendant: ocean jasper and sterling silver. $65 SOLD at 50% off for $32.50

... "What Are the Odds?" pendant: amber (with inclusion! is it a bug, or some tree bark, or what? I can't tell. probably tree bark, but hmmmm....), dino charm, metallized plastic dice beads, sterling silver wire, GF wire. $100 $41 SOLD

... "What I Did On My Summer Vacation" pendant: big green stone bead that might be chrysocolla, base metal mermaid charm, GF wire. $60 SOLD and may be the fastest Artist's Challenge ever

... "Where Stories Come From" pendant: drilled ocean jasper rough, color-treated cultured freshwater pearl, sterling silver. $52 SOLD for 30% off at $36.40

... "The Writing Process" pendant: ocean jasper and sterling silver. $40 SOLD for 30% off at $28

named earrings: ALL GONE!

Most earwires can be switched for niobium earwires, sterling silver ear cuffs, sterling silver posts, other sterling earwires, GF earwires, or GF or sterling silver clip-ons for a small charge; inquire as to today's market rates if you are interested. Conversion to certain styles may require the addition of a few links.

All gold filled (GF) wire and beads are 14/20.

... "Beloved Fire-Keeper" earrings: crackled agate ("dragonscale carnelian"), zinc alloy spacers, sterling silver wires. In artificial light, it's mostly browns and tans; in natural light, especially when it catches proper backlighting, the fire's russets and reds are more visible. $18 SOLD at 40% off for $10.80

... "Birthdays for Bee People" earrings: lampwork glass, brass bees, GF beads and wire. $50 SOLD at 50% off for $25

... "Bring Me A Little Water" earrings: Swarovski crystal, glass, GF wires. (They're blue-green, not royal blue; your monitor may vary.) $45 $18 SOLD

... "Comparing Shores" earrings: Laguna lace agate, silver-plated seahorse charms, zinc alloy spacers, sterling silver. $36 SOLD at 50% off for $18

... "Dancing the Fire Back Inside" earrings: fire agate (no, the three irregularly faceted ones on each earring, NOT the big oval ones -- yes, that's a pet peeve of mine!), crackled carnelian, GF beads and wire. I love these beads. The fire agates were leftovers from the Beads of the Month for July that are about to be mailed: "Honey, Roses and Fire." These earrings are $70 $29. SOLD

... "Decorating Schemes for Flower Fairies" earrings: zinc alloy fairy charms and spacers, glass, sterling silver. $19 SOLD at 50% off for $9.50

... "Dragons Playing Hide-and-Seek, Ynys Mon, Dec. 1881" earrings: crackled agate (or maybe it's chalcedony), opalite glass, sterling silver. ... "Following Grandma Under the Hill" earrings: jasper, lepidolite, glass, Swarovski crystal, sterling silver. $40 SOLD at 40% off for $24

... "Future Geometry" earrings: glass and sterling silver. The mottled edges on these window-cut beads fascinate me. $27 $12 SOLD

... "The Honey of This Good Life" earrings: brass bees, glass, GF wire. Title comes from a line in a poem by my friend and inspiration Jane Hirshfield. $35 $14 SOLD

A Note About Clasps And How To Use Watch Chains:

The bar clasps are possibly the easiest ones to use, provided you have the right size buttonhole. Just settle your watch in the desired pocket, pop the bar through the designated buttonhole from front to back, and there you are. The bar disappears and the fob and watch chain both emanate from the buttonhole, and you are the very pink of fashion.

The button clasps are made for use primarily with vests, where there is a buttonhole (usually smaller) to button that button in, and then the long chain goes down to your watch in its vest pocket, and the other bit of chain hangs out front as ornament. Generally speaking, the short chain with ornamental deeliewhompuses goes in front of the garment along with the button, and the long chain goes out the back of the buttonhole and over to your watch pocket. (See next bit for what to do if the deeliewhompuses are bigger than the buttonhole. Mostly I matched button and deeliewhompus size, but a few are different, so read on for a trick to dealing with that.)

The rings at the end of chains are handy for attaching watches with ribbon, if you like that look. I rather do. I recommend tying the ears of the ribbon bow together for extra security. The ribbon trick is also handy with a few of the button chains with fobs where the fob's size is bigger than that of the button; instead of pushing the fob through the buttonhole followed by the button, thread the end that attaches to the watch through from front to back, and then attach the watch. This works with those lobster clasps and so forth too.

The little lobster clasps can either be clasped around the ring at the top of a watch (if they're large enough to accommodate the ring) or slipped through the ring and clasped back onto their own chain.

**Swapping out those zinc alloy clasps (or the rings, or what-have-you) for other fasteners:

I'm a bit dissatisfied with the zinc alloy clasps, because they don't open as far as is needed to go around the rings at the top of the pocket watches, and yet they are too big to thread through some pocket watch loops and hook back upon their own chain, which is the way one uses the tiny clasps. Feh, I say. So I'll be swapping those out for your choice of goodness on the ones shown here. (I'm also writing to some people who bought items yet to ship, offering choices of whatever they'd like for swaps.) They still can be used like the ring clasps, with a ribbon to tie the watch to them, but as clasps, they're not good for this application -- hence the replacements. I can swap them for rings right now, or for swivel clasps when my shipment arrives. If you want to keep them as is, though, you can have five bucks off the items they're in.

For other fasteners, I can often swap things around for a small additional charge; please let me know what you'd like.

OK, on to the watches!

OK, OK, I cannot resist, so here is a

$10 Last-few-minutes-of-the-sale Mad Scientist Charm/Bead/Bits-and-Bobs lot - and this one has relatively few pieces, but they are seriously of the awesomeness, if you like that kind of thing. Remember those gorgeous photoprints-laminated-to-wood gauges and dials I have been using? Well, I have a few of those, so each Mad Scientist lot will get at least one, plus ... well, tell me five letters you like, so I can choose a couple of pieces from my photoprint-on-wood antique typewriter key discs. (They're not pierced, but they can be glued or wire-wrapped down or otherwise fastened. Letter choices NOT guaranteed, but I will try.) And there are other things, including wrenches and so forth, a little tiny glass bottle, one of my prized gear charms from the supplier who isn't carrying them anymore, and so forth. Like I said, not all that many pieces, but very cool ones. If you want a huge boneshaker bicycle, add in $2. (Is special deal, as the bicycles retail for up to $5 each. These are big, too; they're suitable for stitching or gluing into belt buckles or hat bands!) TWO SOLD (I missed an email! got it now, though!) and thank you and goodnight!

Shipping and suchlike:

Shipping in the U.S. is usually $6.50, unless things are especially heavy or want insurance or something. Ask me for a quote if you need one.

International shipping is currently by International Flat Rate. Shipping for most packages to Canada is $12.00, unless it won't fit in that size Flat Rate box, in which case it jumps to $21.00 for the next size up. Shipping for all other international orders starts at $14; the rate jumps to $29.00 on orders that won’t entirely fit in the small Flat Rate box.

(Those of you who are getting Beads of the Month for August - "What the Lioness Likes" - and have already paid your shipping can combine other shiny purchases with your Beads of the Month package and save a bit. We'll be using the Flat Rate for the combination. For example, if you live in Finland and paid the $8.50 for a Mother Of All Magpies package and are buying a sale necklace that you want to ship with your BotMo, the additional shipping due for combining them would probably be $5.50 -- unless it was a really really heavy necklace. If you're domestic, you've probably already paid the full shipping cost, so it's a big win.)

As always, international customers whose country imposes taxes or delivery charges assessed after the package leaves our hands are responsible for those charges. (U.K. postal service, I'm lookin' at you.)

Anyhow, thank you for looking at the shinies, and I hope they gladden your day. Your purchases definitely gladden my day, especially in this my birthday month. WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!

Step It Up = the Jayne hat earrings. :-D

I'm sorry, I'm up way late and the brain is slow -- so the 10% (and so on XD) comes off the price listed in this post?

Yup! That's precisely it. Saves me having to change a gazillion numbers. (Though on the 6th I may do just that, on anything remaining. We shall see.)

Oh god, you still have Beginning Rose Magic? *begins to drool*

My birthday is in two weeks...and I start slaving tomorrow...

I shouldn't! I really really shouldn't!

I didn't see you ask, but I have done the Magpie Telegraph Alert thing -- it's a reflex, pretty much.

Wandered here via my flist - just wondered if you're posting this over on steamfashion? Because I'm sure you'd get lots of eager buyers?

Hm! Hadn't thought about it, though I do read steamfashion. I will go post a link there. Thanks!

Drat. It's now the 3rd. And the earrings I've been pondering won't stop talking. And my instinct says "If you want 'em, get them NOW!" so ... err... you're getting another email from me.

I love that the wing charms on "'And then I'll fly away,' said the very big lizard" look like wings from close up and like talons from further away. That makes me happy.

Question: will you be offering the lock and key sets later as well? I don't have the money right now but I'm very interested in getting the charm set.

I may offer them again, but it probably won't be until October.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the info. :)

Also, might not be as good a deal. This is a special circumstance.

Do you have any more of the green jasper that went into "The Yarn Whisperer" earrings? My daughter is enthralled by those earrings, and I've got a notion to make her a pendant to match.

I shall have to look. Ping me with an email, and since I missed this inquiry until now, I will give you the sale offer.

...aaand the sale is still on, and I FOUND a very few! How many you want? They are not exactly the same green, but in the family.

Two, I think. And thank you!

Excellent! Throw me an email to gimme@lioness.net, and we'll fold 'em in with any other goodies you have coming, OK?

Oh, thank goodness someone bought "Teasing the Goblin Again". My wallet, she was whining.

Damn you. I can't.

This is me, being strong.

*admires your strongness*

*also, wonders which one you are being strong about*

Oh, you know perfectly well. Sidhe Passport, of course.

::is strong::

Has sick horse to pay vet bills for. Values Cai over shinies.

Horse VERY important. Smart strong casacorona.

Custom bead lots are very tempting, but I am not sure whether I can budget one right now...

I just noticed this today: Peruvian opal temptation lot ($10)

*collapses in hysterical laughter*

"Temptation lot" *splutter*giggle* Yep, that's an entirely accurate description...

Argh. There's no way I can add to my order, but the thought of tree and rose charms has me salivating.

You are an evil woman. :)

Aaaaghhh, "Sidhe Passport" is still there. I really just can't. Personal and household finances are very tight and there is tax stuff coming up and aaaaghhhh.

I just want to say, I admire it exceedingly. I hope it finds a good person.

Come to think of it, I think I already have a Sidhe passport, what with one thing and another, so it should go to somebody who hasn't one yet.

P.

No, you should buy it! Then I might get to visit with it on an occasion.

I am really glad someone bought "Sidhe Passport." It is so lovely! And I hope it gets them in. ;)
