ArtLog: New Shinies, finally!
Greetings from snailsville, where the snails are starting to get excited about this upcoming hip replacement thing. The snails are also getting industrious, because the nice physical therapists say that that futon on the floor is not acceptable, and there needs to be a real bed, high enough to reach high-mid-thigh on this Lioness. Have you seen what mattresses and box springs with edge-support and some cushiness* cost nowadays? Yikes! Here are your shinies of newness, a smidgen late:

Named earrings:

"A Botanist in Faeryland" earrings: Lori Robbins lampwork beads, Swarovski crystal, GF beads and wire. $58

"Long-Tailed Dragonfly Queen" earrings: Beau Hawn lampwork beads, Swarovski crystal, GF beads and wire. $88

... "The Rose-Queen's Apothecary" earrings: lampwork beads, Swarovski crystal, GF beads and wire. $62 SOLD

"The Woman Who Built a Clockwork Universe" earrings: Lori Robbins lampwork beads, Swarovski crystal, sterling silver beads and wire. $66

Named necklaces:

"Candy for the Dead" necklace: glass, stone, plastic, sterling silver, and stories that want to be told. $110

Hairsticks:

... unnamed harvest-themed hairstick: wooden stick about eight inches long, with gold filled wire securing a dance of harvest-colored pearls. A chain from the top leads to a lovely carved bone bead. Stick has some discoloration on it near the top, so I marked it low, but it's still very cool and the discoloration is hardly noticeable. $40 SOLD

As always, the only way to actually purchase one of these things is to send me email at gimme@lioness.net and tell me you want to buy one. We'll reply, and Daniel will send you a total. Now that I've told you that secret, feel free to comment here, safe in the knowledge that you can't accidentally buy something (or put dibs on it) just by remarking on it.

Shipping is usually $6.50 in the U.S. and Canada and $8.50 elsewhere in the world, unless things are especially heavy or want insurance or something. Ask Daniel for a quote if you need one; the gimme address above will reach him, or you can catch him directly at stitchandlioness@gmail.com.

Thanks for looking at my shinies.

* Edge-support because sliding off or sinking down when I sit on it would be a very bad thing, post-surgery. Cushy because I have fibromyalgia and arthritis, in addition to all the other fun stuff, and sleep is sometimes hard to catch. We have a Very Good Bed upstairs, but even if we were to wrestle it to the first floor, it's too high to fit the guidelines. Therefore, new bed. Fortunately, some places around here are having a sale, and there's a very nice one on sale for about half-price that I will go look at tomorrow if all goes well. If that works, then the futon will go in the back bedroom for [info]sonyawinter to sleep on when she's here, and the couch-daybed-thingie back there now will come up to the front room where [info]jenett can snooze on it when she stays over a few nights during my recuperation. Plannage! Plannage is good. Anyhow, shinies can be traded for ducats which can be traded for mattress and box spring. That's the cunning plan, anyway. Hope you like them!

("Madame Goes to the Circus" is just linked to the cut-jump, not an image.)

You have my sympathies with mattress hunting. Found out my happy futon pile had mildewed from underneath during the last move and hastily went bed shopping. Yipes.

Laura has a nice firm queen mattress set for sale cheap. A simple frame would get it high enough I betcha.

Yeah, I kinda got in a mood.

And then when I went upstairs to make a note of something, I got jumped on by the muse, so there are four pendants and some earrings up there now too. More to come, I daresay.

We have a very good bed (which would just be a pretty good bed, but we view it largely in light of the horrible squishy underfilled waterbed we had in the Dutch apartment (underfilled because the mattress was larger than the frame justified, so we couldn't just pipe in more water)) which is fine to sleep on but sucky to sit on because of lack of edge support. I hadn't realized the two could be combined in one mattress until I met this one.

Yeah. I'm going to have to be very attentive to edge support. I don't want to mess up the new hip. (Especially because we're hoping to get me home four days after surgery, and have home care from then on.)

Ikea might have something more affordable if you can get a friend to drive you out there and schlep the thing home for you.

Beautiful jewelry!!!

Those are some fabulous lampwork beads! Wow.

Good bed is worth a great deal. I couldn't believe the change when we left behind the futon. We got a beautirest about 7 years ago and it is still really nice.

Wow, those lampwork beads are gorgeous, and the paired swarovski really works beautifully. I think my favorites are "Grape Magic," "High Summer at Evergreen House," "The Lure," Social Register of the Drowned Cities" (I love that name, especially), and "Summer at Dragonfly Lake." If only I could afford to splurge...
