March Shiny Sale! now extended until midnight Tuesday night....

Hey, it's good to be back doing Current Shinies. I love being back home at the workbench, however much I loved traveling and seeing people.

Sale is OVER now - thanks, everybody. Things go back to full price now.

Those of you who have ordered March Beads of the Month can combine shipping, so we'll save you a little money on that if you order anything from the sale. Daniel will calculate additional shipping as needed, and you can check with him at stitchandlioness@gmail.com on what the cost would be. (Generally, a pair or two of earrings added to a BotMo Great Big Magpie or Mother Of All Magpies order won't need any additional shipping, unless they're super-heavy earrings or something. Adding things to a Little Bitty Magpie will raise the shipping costs because we shift things from a padded envelope to a box, so you'd pay the difference there. Oh, and there are some March packages left, in case you'd still like to buy one. Check here: "Here Comes the Sun.")

Copies of Glass Bead Games, the anthology:

There are still copies of Glass Bead Games available; they are $25 plus shipping. This is the cool anthology of stories and poems and essays sparked by Lioness shiny things. Contains this year's Hugo award-winning short story "Tideline" by Elizabeth Bear, plus two other Bear stories, three Sarah Monette stories, some Jane Yolen poetry, an introduction by Lois McMaster Bujold, and more. Also contains photographs of many of the necklaces from which these pieces took some inspiration. Limited edition of 300 numbered copies, and when they're gone, they're gone... and there are fewer than ninety copies remaining.

Named bracelets:

...none just now.

Named earrings that you may have seen before, now on sale, 4 pairs left:

... "And Oh, Won't That Be A Day?" earrings: jasper, glass, sterling silver. $28 $14 SOLD

"And the Hills Rejoiced" earrings: glass, stone, and sterling silver. $34 $17 $14

... "The Button Fairy Chooses An Heir" earrings: vintage buttons, old shell beads (?), faceted rutilated quartz, GF wires. $30 $15 SOLD

"A Castle Childhood Remembered" earrings: stone, glass, sterling silver. Heavy. $28 $14 $10

... "Cloud Horses" earrings: jasper, sterling silver, and that glass they used to sell as "pineapple quartz." $29 $14 SOLD

... "Dancing Through Her Days" earrings: nifty bicolor glass beads, plus gold filled beads and wire. $30 $15 SOLD

... "Elegant Elf" earrings: glass, Swarovski crystal, sterling silver. $30 $15 SOLD

"The Seven Bakers of Candlewick Close" earrings: lampwork and other glass, gold filled beads and wire. $38 $19 $16

... Key to Fairyland #1: lampwork glass, other glass, gold filled wire. $32 $16 SOLD

... "Swingin' Atomic Retro Holiday Blues" pendant: aquamarine, lampwork and other glass, Swarovski crystal, sterling silver. $70 $35 SOLD

Named necklaces that you may have seen before, now on sale, and marked down again; 7 left:

"Carnival of Sinners" necklace: glass and sterling silver. $345 $200 $185 $160

"Faeryland For Real" necklace: The colors here are considerably heightened by sunlight; usually they are more muted. But those golds do hide in there, and leap out under the right light. Pietersite, jasper, rhodonite, other stone and sterling silver. $310 $250 $215 $199

... "Here Comes the Sun, II" necklace: glass and sterling silver and two plastic vintage Mardi Gras beads. 37 1/2 inches long. $120 $75 $70 SOLD

"Island of the Little God" necklace: sterling silver, dyed mother-of-pearl, and mystery beads. Oh, I love these beads so, and the heart-and-arrow clasp. This is a lovely light necklace, too. $215 $125 $99 $85

"Little Pixie Makes a Friend" necklace: glass and sterling silver. $190 $130 $99

... "Mermaid on the Shore" necklace: amber, glass, clay, stone including strawberry rutile inclusions in quartz and some interesting agates, sterling silver, and so on. This necklace is claspless. $165 $100 $90 SOLD

"The Rose of the Vineyards" necklace: glass, ocean jasper, sterling silver, color-treated pearls and shells, etc. $625 $350 $300

"The Salmon of Wisdom's Last Will and Testament" necklace: glass and sterling silver. $225 $150 $130

"Three Sisters Turned Into Fish" necklace: distressed glass beads (which means yep, some have cracks and crackles, so please be aware of that), jasper and other stone, sterling silver, a fair bit of folklore, and who knows what else. $360 $250 $199

Necklace-crowns that you may have seen before, on sale now, 1 left:

"Bringing the Dawn In Her Pockets" necklace-crown: Swarovski crystal and sterling silver. $360 $180 $160 $150

... "Driftwood Castle" necklace-crown: opals and sterling silver. Lots of opals. Large. $400 $200 SOLD

Hairsticks that you may have seen before, on sale now, 1 left:

... Hairstick with turquoise hearts and sterling silver. $25 $15 SOLD

... "Her Grace the Baroness of Dwarrow" hairstick: labradorite, sterling silver, wood. Note: this is short and is heavy at the top, so it's probably best used as a sort of "cocktail umbrella" hair ornament, where you securely pin up your hair first and then use this to fancy it up, rather than using it as structural support. For that reason, huge markdown. The labradorite's cool, though, even if the engineering of the design isn't as good as I wanted it to be. $95 $25 SOLD

... "Seaweed Wreathes Her" hairstick: Swarovski crystal, gold filled wire and chain, wood. Seven inch stick. $68 $34 SOLD

"She Dwells Beneath" hairstick: gold-plated seahorse woman charm from Green Girl Studios, Swarovski crystal, gold filled wire and chain, wood, and yes this does match "Seaweed Wreathes Her." See? Seven inch stick. $90 $50 $45 $40

Maddy's hair toys that you may have seen before, on sale now, 1 left:

"Living Rock" hair toy: that chalcedony-looking stuff they keep selling me as "Peruvian opal," sterling silver, clip-comb. $65 $32 $25

... "Postcard from Aunt Floria" hair toy: vintage button, color-treated pearls encased in resin and faceted, sterling silver wire, clip-comb. $50 $30 SOLD

For reference: A clip-comb opened and then closed again.

Links for the rest of these are coming now, as I get the photos taken. And also, in case some of you are wondering what that ruler marked "Improper" is saying in some of the photos, it's my ruler from the London Transport Museum. I got it when Mike and I were there, and it's the one I happened to grab for today's picture-taking session.

Named earrings, including one older pair I love too much to mark down:

"And In the Corner, the Small Boy With the Fan Heard Everything, and Made His Plan" earrings: glass and sterling silver. $22

"...And the Cat In Glory" earrings: glass, sterling silver. $24

"Bacchus and His Boys" earrings: opalite glass and other glass, sterling silver. $27

... "The Bears Know the Ways Better Than We Do" earrings: opalite glass, other glass, sterling silver. $27 SOLD

... "The Boy In the Grapevine" earrings: glass, sterling silver. $28 SOLD

... "Charting the Unknown Spaces" earrings: glass, ocean jasper, sterling silver. $27 SOLD

"Distilling the Twilight Flowers" earrings: glass, sterling silver. $26

"Eos House" earrings: pink opalite glass, Swarovski crystal, sterling silver. $30

... "Famous Queens of Science" earrings: Swarovski crystal, glass and sterling silver. $26 SOLD

... "Flower Fairies of the 1930s" earrings: glass and sterling silver. $27 SOLD

"Fossil Perfume" earrings: stone, glass, sterling silver. $26

... "'Kiss Me Again,' Said the Dryad" earrings: glass and sterling silver. $24 SOLD

"Marla and the Artifact" earrings: glass and sterling silver. $25

... "'Of the Treachery of Mortals, There Is No End,' Said Grandfather Dragon" earrings: Swarovski crystal, opalite glass and other glass, sterling silver. $28 SOLD

... "The One That You Think I Am" earrings: Swarovski crystal, glass and sterling silver. $26 SOLD

... "The Seventh Spice" earrings: stone and sterling silver. $25 SOLD

"Third Lives" earrings: glass, sterling silver. $24

"Today's Pixies Prefer Modern, Easy-To-Clean Formica!" earrings: glass and sterling silver. $24

"Touch Is Like Music" earrings: glass, stone, sterling silver. $35

... "Traveling Via Magic Mirrors: A Guide for the Novice" earrings: glass, Swarovski crystal, sterling silver. $29 SOLD

... "Two Guardians" earrings: bear beads of unknown material, sterling silver. $20 SOLD

... "What Still Burns" earrings: glass, sterling silver. $16 SOLD

Named and unnamed pendants:

"The Bear Would Like To Know How Long This Desert Goes On" pendant: stone and sterling silver. $46 $35

... "Opening" pendant: blue lace agate and sterling silver. $44 SOLD

... "'The Story That Could Save My Life Is In A Language I Do Not Know,' Said the Bear Sadly" pendant: stone and sterling silver. $45 SOLD

tektite pendant number one (long tektite): tektite, sterling silver. I am told this was from the Australasian strewnfield. I tried to make the silver basket that holds it in such a way that the little craters and pits on the tektite are still easily seen. $65

... tektite pendant number two (a more round fragment of tektite): tektite, sterling silver. Same origin as the other pendant. I love the shape of this one, and the pitting on it. It's had quite a journey. $55 SOLD

"Things I Should Have Asked You" pendant: jasper and sterling silver. $31

... "What Persephone Knew" pendant: color-treated cultured pearl and plain cultured pearl, with sterling silver. $75 with fancy sterling silver chain, $55 without. (The chain is 20", I believe, so it is most suitable for a big person, as the pendant will generally hang too low on most other folks.) SOLD without the chain

Linked necklaces:

... "Ladybugs of Tomorrow!" necklace: glass and sterling silver. 47 1/2 inches long. $115 SOLD

"Taking My Baby Back To Clown Jail" necklace: glass and sterling silver. $385

... "'What Will You Trade Me For My Story?' Said the Fish" necklace: glass, sterling silver, and a tale told inside-out. $65 SOLD even before the photos went up

Necklace-crowns:

"Brambledaughter" necklace-crown: color-treated cultured pearls, Swarovsi crystal, sterling silver. Another photo here, but none of the photos really catch it, sorry. $275

"The Fire Inside the Ice" necklace-crown: opalite glass, Swarovski crystal, sterling silver. $250

"Love Songs for Machines" necklace-crown: rubber, old jewelry, watch parts, metal beads, Swarovski crystal, sterling silver. $225

"The Year She Found Her Name" necklace-crown: color-treated cultured pearls and sterling silver. $160

Shipping is generally $6.50 in the US or Canada; that gets you priority shipping in the US (wherever possible) and first class shipping in Canada. Shipping elsewhere is usually only a couple of dollars higher; please ask Daniel for a quote. (He can be reached at stitchandlioness@gmail.com, but will probably be off-duty until Monday morning, so please do not fret if you don't get an answer or an invoice before then, OK?) We can do express shipping, insurance, or other forms of fancy shipping on request and for a price; Daniel is keeper of all that knowledge as well. We accept PayPal, checks, money orders, and sometimes we even take large parcels of food from Singapore or other goodies in trade.

Thank you for looking at my shinies. Daniel will be sending the rest of the invoices out shortly.

I've admired "Driftwood Castle" for a while -- I'm glad it's found a home (though I wish it could have been with me!).

I was just thinking the opposite, actually: I love it very much, but it isn't mine, so I'm very glad it isn't with me, because it belongs somewhere else. And now it knows where. Go anthropomorphism. Personification? Whichever.

Hey, a bunch of your newer stuff doesn't have active links... didn't know if that was an in-process thing or an HTML fail or what... so wanted to bring it to your attention.

Hugs!

Oh, I know what's going to happen now. I'm going to start clicking on the links to the shinies, and I'm going to fall in love with something. This after having spent much, much more in February than I really ought.

I am looking forward with some anticipation to "Ladybugs of Tomorrow!" The name invokes images of the carnivorous ladybugs that my father-in-law was "raising" on a washroom windowsill a couple years ago. He was feeding them raw hamburger for the winter.

He likes bugs.

My life: I loves it.

They can be worn on the head or around the neck. There are at least four different ways to wear them on the head, too.

I originally made them as necklaces, but people kept putting them on their heads, so I decided not to fight the weather. Then I found out that there used to be necklaces that were convertable into tiaras and crowns. I guess everything old is new again.
